Students seek free bus pass in city

Mysuru: Urging the authorities to provide free bus pass to the students for the present academic year, students led by All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office here yesterday.

Stating that the former CM Siddharamaiah had announced free bus pass to the students, the protesters alleged that though the classes for the current academic year had started, the authorities concerned had not taken any steps to provide free bus pass to the students, forcing some students to pay the bus fare everyday while students who are unable to pay are not attending the classes.

Stating that the Transport Department authorities had said that they would provide free bus passes to the students after bringing the same to the notice of the Government, the protesters alleged that the Transport Department authorities were now refusing to provide free bus passes.

AIDSO Secretary Chandrakala, All India Democratic Youth Organisation (AIDYO) Secretary T.R. Sunil, All India Mahila Sanskritik Sangathan (AIMSS) Vice-President G.S. Seema and students of various colleges took part in the protest.
