Students stage protest against lack of hostel facilities

Mysore/Mysuru: Students of University of Mysore (UoM), led by All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO), staged a protest against the lack of basic facilities at the Maharaja College Hostel, yesterday.

The protesters assembled near Crawford Hall and shouted slogans against the UoM. “We are facing the problem of drinking water for the last two months and without proper maintenance, toilets are emanating bad smell. Students are suffering from lack of proper food. All these issues have been brought to the notice of UoM officials. But they are very callous and have done nothing to address the problems,” said the protesters.

On hearing about the students’ protest, Students Welfare Officer Chandrashekar and Hostel Warden Rangaraju assured that their problems will be solved and appealed to withdraw the                         protest immediately.

But the protesters insisted that the VC must come and meet them and continued the protest. After hearing that the VC cannot come to meet them, the protesters withdrew the protest and warned that they will hold protest again if the problems are not solved within the next two days.

AIDSO District President Subhash, Secretary Chandrakala and hundreds of hostel inmates participated in the protest.
