Students stage protest demanding removal of Varsity Registrar

Mysuru: Hundreds of students of the University of Mysore, staged a protest here yesterday demanding the removal of Registrar Prof. R. Rajanna for levelling baseless allegations against Varsity Acting Vice-Chancellor (V-C) Prof. Dayanand Mane and also on the inmates of the girls hostel, thus bringing a bad name to the University.

The students who sat on a dharna near the Round Canteen in the campus, shouted slogans against the Registrar and sought his removal.

The protestors said that Acting V-C Prof. Dayanad Mane,  following a memorandum submitted to him by the inmates of the girls hostel, visited the men’s hostel on Apr. 12 at about 8.30 am and then visited the girls hostel along with other officials at about 9.45 am.

The protestors also accused Hostel Warden Prof. Rekha  Jadav and Registrar Prof. Rajanna of not providing the CCTV footages of the Acting V-C’s visit to the media thus creating controversies. The agitating students  said that the truth would come out only after going through the CCTV footages of the hostels.

The agitators accused the Registrar of creating controversies to tarnish the image of Acting V-C Prof. Dayanand Mane and also causing mental harassment to the inmates of the girls hostel by giving false statements and demanded sacking of the  Registrar.
