Mysore/Mysuru: Students under the banner of Dalita Vidyarthigala Okkoota staged a protest near the Round Canteen at Manasagangothri in city yesterday, demanding the suspension of University of Mysore Physical Education HoD Prof. Venkatesh and the postponement of second year exams of Post Graduation (PG) courses.
The protesters said “The PG exams are announced, but there is no gap between the papers. Hence the students don’t have adequate time to prepare for the exams. Hence the exams must be postponed.”
Gagan, a student of Physical Education Department, who attempted suicide alleging harassment from HoD Prof. Venkatesh is undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a hospital. Prof. Venkatesh should be kept under suspension, the protesters demanded.
Varsity Registrar (Administration) V. R. Shylaja who visited the spot along with Registrar (Evaluation) Mahadevaiah, received the memorandum of the protesters. They also assured to prepare a new time table after taking a look into the request. While the action against Prof. Venkatesh will be taken on the basis of probe report with a high-level committee constituted in this regard.
