Sugama sangeetha workshop on Feb. 2

Mysuru: A sugama sangeetha workshop has been organised under the auspices of Mysore Ananthaswamy Memorial Trust at Bidaram Ramamandira in Shivarampet on Feb. 2.  

For the first time in Mysuru, Sunitha Ananthaswamy, well-known singer and daughter of Mysore Ananthaswamy, will be conducting the one-day music workshop.

Profile: Mysore Ananthaswamy, an artiste par excellence, was responsible for carving a niche for sugama sangeetha and taking it to the peak during his life-time. Following his footsteps, his daughter, Sunitha Ananthaswamy has been composing, singing, giving performances and teaching music over the last three decades across the globe. 

Sunitha gave her first performance at the age of 13, her father being her first ‘Guru’. She has also learnt Hindustani classical from Pandit Rajeev Taranath. A multi-talented artiste, she has composed music to more than 75 poems, can play on guitar, mandolin and harmonium. 

She has given a number of memorable performances with her father as also with her  brother, noted musician Raju Ananthaswamy.
