Mysore/Mysuru: “Study to empower yourself and for your progress, not to impress others or the society,” said Akshata Ganesh, a TV Personality and Professor in English.
She was speaking at the valedictory of Cultural, Literary and Sports Forum, at Navajyothi Auditorium, JSS College for Women at Saraswathipuram in city recently.
Akshata said, “In case if you fail in exams too, do not think of committing suicide. Suicide is not the solution to one’s problem, but it is an act of cowardice. One can suffer from depression at any stage of life, which is not just limited to college students. If any one of you is feeling low, share it with your friends, parents, teachers or relatives. Be sensitive to such issues. Don’t ignore.”
Akshata stressed on four points — “I should compete with myself; Me versus me will always enhance one’s performance; Make your interest your profession; Financial Independence is a must; Developing talent is the need of hour.”
Ekalavya Awardee, National Ball Badminton player and Assistant Manager of Canara Bank, Bengaluru, Sudarshan, who also spoke on the occasion, said that participating in sports not only enhances physical activity but also widens friends’ circle. Sports persons have a good future as they can get Government jobs under sports quota.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of various cultural, literary and sports competitions along with Endowment Awards to students who excelled in academics.
The valedictory programme was followed by a fashion show. Principal Dr. M. Poornima and Academic Dean Dr. Rechanna were present during the occasion.
M.P. Deepika and troupe rendered invocation. V. Vidya welcomed the gathering. S.J. Bhavana compeered the programme. R. Tanmayi proposed a vote of thanks.
