Sulwadi Maramma Temple Poisoning Case: Accused produced before Court; hearing postponed to Mar. 26

The accused Immadi Mahadevaswamy alias Devanna Buddhi, Ambika being produced before District and Sessions Court in Chamarajanagar yesterday.

Chamarajanagar: The four accused in the Kichuguth Sulwadi Maramma Temple poisoning incident, where over 17 people lost their lives and many people scarred for life, were produced before the District and Sessions Court here yesterday.

Due to security reasons, accused Immadi Mahadevaswamy alias Devanna Buddhi, Manager of the Temple Madesha, his wife Ambika and former employee of the Temple Doddaiah were being produced before the Chamarajanagar District and Sessions Court through video conferencing from Mysuru Central Prisons earlier and this is for the first time, the four accused were produced in person before the Court.

As the advocate for the accused was not present at the Court, Judge J. Basavaraja postponed the hearing to Mar. 26.

Madesha and Doddaiah

Investigating Officer Kollegal DySP Puttamadaiah and his team had submitted a charge-sheet containing 6,163 pages to the Court. As the judicial custody period of all the four accused ended yesterday, they were produced before the Court.

When the judge asked Immadi Mahadevaswamy whether he wanted a copy of the charge-sheet, in his reply, Immadi Mahadevaswamy urged the judge to give him a copy. The judge asked other accused Madesha, Ambika and Doddaiah if they have appointed a lawyer and when would the lawyer come? Madesha told the Judge that their lawyer may come to the Court on Monday or Tuesday and requested the Judge to give a copy of the charge-sheet.

Later, the Judge postponed the hearing to Mar. 26.

The accused were brought to the Court from Mysuru under tight Police security and elaborate security arrangement was also in place at the Court where they were produced.
