Sulwadi Maramma Temple poisoning case: Mutt land transferred to kingpin

Chamarajanagar: Information sought by social activist Dasharath of Kollegal  under RTI Act has revealed that the khata of a plot measuring 2.44 acres, belonging to the historical Salur Mutt, has been transferred to the name of Immadi Mahadevaswamy, the prime accused in the Sulvadi Maramma Temple prasadam poisoning case. Immadi Mahadevaswamy alias Devanna Buddi is in jail at present.

The 2.44 acres is in Survey No. 203 at Linganapura village, under Kasaba hobli of Kollegal taluk where the high school run by Salur Mutt is functioning and the khata of the land has been transferred in the name of Mahadevaswamy. The Tahsildar’s office in Kollegal issued the documents of land records (pahani) on May 3. One Mahadeva Prabhu had registered the land in the name of Mahadevaswamy, who was then the Secretary of Sri Male Mahadeshwara Krupa Vidya Samsthe, in 1997.

Though the land was registered in 1997, the property had not undergone mutation process. (transfer of title) Immadi Mahadevaswamy had applied for khata transfer last year,   it is said.

Dasharath said the officials had connived with the seer in the issue. “How could they issue the documents to a person who is accused in the death of 17 innocent people?” he said.

Dasharath has urged the Deputy Commissioner to conduct a probe in this issue and take action against the officials involved in it and has also written a letter to the Vijay Bhaskar, Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka, in this regard.
