Super Multi-speciality Hospital at K.R. Hospital premises soon

Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah has instructed V. Manjula, Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare (Medical Education) to inspect the renovation of the K.R. Hospital and other buildings in its premises and the construction of a new super multi-speciality hospital and give a report in this regard.

Manjula, who visited the K.R. Hospital following the directions, interacted with Dr. B. Krishnamurthy, Dean of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) and his team, here this morning.

The Dean highlighted that a proposal of Rs. 123 crore had been sent to the State Government for approval. This will include the renovation of the Stone Building and demolition of the Special Wards and in its place, construction of a super multi-speciality hospital. The eight-storey building with five floors, a ground floor and two floors underground will come up which will have 24 Operation Theatres (OTs) and 300 beds.

Manjula, speaking to Star of Mysore, said that very little funds has been sanctioned for the multi-speciality hospitals coming up in Mysuru, Hubballi and a few other places in the Budget. However, the K.R. Hospital being a renowned hospital requires more funds for renovation and the super multi-speciality hospital.

Asked how much funds was required, she said that she still did not have the details. However, she said that the multi-speciality hospital would come up very soon. She will also visit PKTB Hospital where Jayadeva Hospital is coming up and then attend a Finance Committee meeting in the evening.

Dr. C.N. Manjunath, Director, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, Dr. R. Chandrashekar, in-charge Medical Superintendent, K.R. Hospital, Dr. Radhamani, Medical Superintendent, Cheluvamba Hospital, B. Indiramma, Chief Accounts Officer and others were present.
