Super Series Tennis Tournament: Double delight for Padmapriya

Mysore/Mysuru: City’s budding tennis player Padmapriya Ramesh Kumar displayed her exceptional skills at the Super Series Tennis Tournament, organised by All Assam Tennis Association, in Guwahati recently, to emerge winner in the U-14 girls doubles and runner-up in the U-12 singles.

In U-14 girls’ doubles category, Padmapriya, partnering with Kushi Khadian (Haryana), defeated the pair of Serena Gehlot (Haryana) and Nayeem Hussain (Assam) 6-3, 6-1 straight sets to emerge as the winners.

Meanwhile in the U-12 girls’ singles, Padmapriya lost to Serena Gehlot 6-1, 6-1 in straight sets to end up in the second place. In the singles semi-finals, Padmapriya had defeated Esheti Sriyala of Andhra Pradesh 6-1, 6-0.

Padmapriya Ramesh Kumar is currently studying in the 7th standard at Excel Public School in Mysuru. She is the daughter of Dr. Malathi Priya, Conservator of Forests, Mysuru Circle and Dr. P. Ramesh Kumar, Conservator of Forests (Project Tiger).
