Surgeons are the skilled medical professionals who perform a range of procedures to help people overcome illness, injuries and medical conditions which cannot be treated by medicines. They work tirelessly to improve patient care, research and teach young medical students to ensure that people receive the best possible care.
As emphasised by Jim Yong Kim (President of World Bank 2012-2019) surgery is “indivisible and indispensable” part of health care, and it is not complete without surgeons and surgical care.
Association of Surgeons of India- Karnataka State Chapter is an organisation of more than 2,000 surgeons across Karnataka. It has 20 branches in major cities and towns of the State. On June 25 all branches and surgeons celebrate Surgeons Day across the State, as decided by KSCASI.
Surgeons Day is an opportunity to celebrate the vital role that surgeons play in healthcare and to highlight their hard work, dedication and commitment to their patients.
The Surgeons and the Surgical Association celebrate Surgeons Day in many ways. A free health check/free surgery camp or free consultation is organised, besides performing a free surgery in their hospital during the week. They associate with other organisations like IMA, Rotary, Lions etc. to reach out to the public by organising walkathon/cyclothon to create public awareness. The meeting of all surgeons will be organised to hear guest lectures, CME, surgery demonstrations etc. Senior or well deserving local surgeon will be honoured to celebrate his or her contributions to the society and profession.
