Suspected old rivalry: Rowdy-sheeter hacked to death near Srirangapatna

Srirangapatna: A rowdy-sheeter was allegedly hacked to death over suspected rivalry near Srirangapatna on Thursday night. The slain rowdy-sheeter is Harish (30) of Palahalli in Srirangapatna taluk of Mandya district.

On Thursday at about 10 pm, Harish, who was on his way to Palahalli from Srirangapatna in his car, was reportedly being followed by miscreants in two cars, who rammed into the car near Ranganathittu Cross in Srirangapatna Police limits. 

The miscreants, who got down from their cars, threw chilli powder on Harish and allegedly hacked him to death with machetes and fled from the spot.

Senior Police officials, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary in Mysuru. 

The body was kept at the mortuary yesterday as a precautionary step to avoid any untoward incident from taking place at Srirangapatna in view of Dasara celebrations. 

Later the body was handed over to the family members and last rites were held at Palahalli yesterday. 

Srirangapatna Police have registered a case.
