Suspecting illicit relationship: Man beheads wife in Varuna Police limits

Mysore/Mysuru: Suspecting his wife of having illicit relationship, a drunk man beheaded his wife at Chettanahalli village of Varuna hobli in the taluk yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Puttamma (45), the second wife of Devaraj, who is accused of beheading his wife and absconding now.

The incident came to light at about 4.30 pm, when Puttamma’s daughter returned home from college and saw her mother’s lifeless body, with her head separated lying in a pool of blood and immediately informed the jurisdictional Varuna Police.

Varuna Inspector Mahesh and staff, rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar, registered a case and shifted the body to MMC&RI mortuary where post-mortem was conducted this morning and the body was handed over to the family members.

It is learnt that Devaraj had allegedly attempted to murder his first wife and had landed in jail. His first wife had left him unable to bear his torture, it is learnt.

Varuna Police, who have registered a case, have launched a hunt to nab Devaraj, who is absconding.
