Two-day khadi sales begin at DC Office
Mysore/Mysuru: Following State Government’s circular instructing the Government employees to wear khadi on first Saturdays of every month and during celebrations of national festivals including Gandhi Jayanthi among others, a two-day sale of khadi clothes began at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office premises in Siddarthanagar here this morning.
The stalls were set up under the supervision of District Khadi Gramodyog Industries Officer Sharath Chandra at the corridors of the DC’s Office.
Khadi Gramodyog Department has also announced a discount of 35 percent during the sale.
After discount, khadi shirts were priced at Rs. 600 onwards, waist coat between Rs. 1,200 and Rs. 1,300, shirt material at Rs. 400 – Rs. 600 per metre, khadi sarees between Rs. 2,500 and Rs. 3,500, kurta at Rs. 600 onwards, towels at Rs. 190 each, khadi lungi Rs. 400 each, khadi silk saree between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 10,000 and dress material at Rs. 600 onwards per metre.
The sale of khadi clothes and dress materials received a good response with government employees coming forward to purchase variety of clothing.
DC G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, who was on city rounds along with CM Siddaramaiah, will be formally inaugurating the khadi sales later today.
