‘Swaradhaara’ enthrals audience with Kannada-Hindi film songs

Mysore/Mysuru: A musical evening programme titled ‘Swaradhaara,’ organised at Jaganmohan Palace in city yesterday and presented by Kavitha Kamath-led ‘Geeth Sangam’ troupe, enthralled the audience with  melodies old Kannada and Hindi film songs. A total of 11 singers presented more than 30 songs on the occasion.

Even as the singers performed, videos of respective songs were put up in the LED screen in the backdrop.

Many amateur singers from various fields like teachers, doctors and other domains mesmerised the audience with their eloquent presentation of popular film songs.

Singer Chandru gave a good start to the musical programme by singing a song from Dr. Vishnuvardhan’s film Kotigobba, ‘Kaverige Kalungura Todisi…’.

This was followed by another Kannada melody from Nee Bareda Kadambari film ‘Nee Meetida Nenapellavu Ede Tumbi Haadagide…’ which was presented by Dr. Bharath Raj and Annu Murnad.

Dr. K.A.K. Surendran entertained by singing and dancing Dr. Rajkumar’s song ‘Hosa Belaku Moodutide…’ from the movie Hosabelaku. Dr. Surendran is a doctor at city K.R. Hospital.

Another Kannada melody ‘Tutiya Mele Tunta Kirunage…’ from the movie Mana Mechhida Madadi was sung by Nithyananda Kamath and Geetha Rao. When the video of the song was displayed on the screen, the audience had the opportunity to see actress Dr. Leelavathi, who recently died due to age-related health issues, along with thespian Dr. Rajkumar. Later, Hedatale Narayan and Jayalakshmi Naidu sang ‘Nammuru Mysuru, Nimmuru Yavuru…’ from Preethi Madu Thamashe Nodu.

Kavitha Kamath presented ‘Hame Aur Jeene Ki Chahat Na Hoti…’ song from 1983 Hindi film Agar Tum Na Hote which was appreciated by the audience.

Singer B.S. Kumarswamy captivated the audience by singing   Kannada melody ‘Radhike Ninna Sarasa…’ from Thande Makkalu. Dr. Ravindra Kumar presented ‘Naa Haadalu Neevu Haadabeku…’ from Kalla Kulla.

In addition, song ‘Joteyagi Hitavagi…’ from Rathasaptami by Hedatale Narayan and Jayalakshmi Naidu, ‘Enendu Naa Helali…’ song from Dr. Rajkumar’s film Girikanye by Hedatale Narayan, ‘Aaja Sanam…’ song from Chori Chori by Nithyananda Kamath and Geetha Rao, ‘Olavina Udugore Kodalenu…’ from Olavina Udugore was presented by Annu Murnad and ‘Elliruve Manava Kaaduva Rupasiye…’ song from Anantnag-Kalpana starer Bayalu Daari were also presented.

Prior to this, the programme was inaugurated by Sri Ilai Alwar Swamiji of Melukote Vangipur Nambi Mutt. District Kannada Sahitya Parishat Mysuru President Maddikere Gopal was the chief guest.

Narendra provided the technical assistance to display the video of songs on the LED screen. Retired Professor Dr. R.L. Jagadish and M.R. Anitha compered the programme and shared many interesting information about the songs presented during the musical evening.
