SWR Mysuru Division celebrates 68th Railway Week

Mysore/Mysuru: The Mysuru Division of South Western Railway (SWR) celebrated 68th Railway Week Awards Ceremony on Mar. 29 at the Chamundi Officers Club in Yadavagiri.

Shilpi Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), presented awards to outstanding employees for their exceptional performance during the fiscal year 2022-2023.

A total of 22 diligent staff members were honoured with individual awards for their exemplary contributions.

In her address, Shilpi Agarwal highlighted the division’s achievements for the year 2023-24. Notably, the division received efficiency shields in categories such as Electrical, Mechanical, Inter-divisional Rajbhasha and Scrap performance, along with recognition for key performance indices.

Mysuru Railway Station was acknowledged as the best-maintained Major Station, while Bageshpura Railway Station received the distinction of being the best-maintained Minor Station across the SWR network during the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar held at the headquarters in Hubballi in January earlier this year, she said.

Furthermore, seven employees of the Mysuru Division were commended and awarded for their meritorious service at the Zonal level during the Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar ceremony.

Key performance highlights for fiscal year 2023-24 until Feb. 2024 include: 1. Achieving an overall and highest ever freight loading of 10.503 Million Tonnes, marking a significant increase of 9.083% compared to the previous year (surpassing the previous full financial year’s highest of 9.549 MT).

2. Record-breaking freight earnings of Rs. 907.91 crore, surpassing the previous year’s highest earnings; surpassing the previous full financial year’s highest earning of Rs. 897.28 crore a month in advance and its highest-ever overall revenue of Rs.1,330.17 crores; surpassing the previous full financial year’s highest of Rs. 1,304.91 crore in just 334 days.

3. Transporting 30.47 Million Passengers upto February 2024, reflecting a 5.10% increase from the previous year.

4. Electrification of 342.8 RKM (Route Kilometres) out of the targeted 395 RKM across the division.

The SWR Mysuru Division also saw significant progress in human resources, with numerous appointments, promotions and settlements being facilitated.

Shilpi Agarwal also emphasised the division’s commitment to maintaining cordial industrial relations with organised labour, ensuring smooth operations for freight and passenger services.

The South Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation was acknowledged for its efforts in promoting social welfare activities for Railway employees and their families.

The DRM encouraged all employees to continue striving for excellence and assured recognition for their dedication and hard work.

The event was attended by Additional Divisional Railway Managers Vinayak Nayak and E. Vijaya,  Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Vishnu Gouda and other branch officers of the Mysuru Division.
