SWR Mysuru Division observes ‘Fit India Plogging Drive’

Mysore/Mysuru: Continuing with the spirit of ‘Fit India Freedom Run’ a campaign being observed by South Western Railway (SWR),

Mysuru Division from Aug. 19 to Oct.2, 2020, a ‘Fit India Plogging Drive’ was conducted on Saturday (Aug.29) along tracks in all three directions from Mysuru Railway Station covering a distance of 5 kms.  

With an aim to make the Railway vicinity and tracks litter-free of plastic and trash the team cleaned up Stations, tracks, yards and side drains and collected 2 quintals of garbage along the tracks. 

Additional Divisional Railway Managers, Senior Officers from the Division and about 150 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and staff participated in the drive launched from Mysuru Railway Station to  Ashokapuram Railway Station also covering Mysuru New Goods Terminal. 

Plogging Run is a unique way of picking up garbage while jogging and was added to the Fit India Movement as a unique way of combining cleanliness and fitness, doing something for your fitness as well as for cleanliness of your surroundings. Plogging Run combines the Fit India Movement and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, according to a press release from Priya Shetty, Divisional Commercial Manager and PRO.
