Army tableau & Navy band restricted to Palace premises

Mysuru, Oct. 22 (MTY&DM)- Though all State Government tableaux and art forms were allowed to take part in the Jumboo Savari procession for full length (up to Torchlight Parade Grounds), the authorities restricted some of the Armed Forces tableaux and Bands to the Palace premises, much to the disappointment of the waiting crowds along Raja Marga, the procession route.

The Indian Navy Band presented stirring marching tunes ‘Hum Taiyaar Hain’ and ‘Jai Bharat,’ in celebration of the pride, discipline and glorious traditions of our nation’s Naval force. However, this Band was limited to the Palace premises and terminated at Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple, just outside the Palace North Gate. The 13-member Indian Navy Band contingent from Naval Base, Karwar, represented the valour, honour and indomitable spirit of the Indian Navy.

The Indian Air Force’s Publicity Exhibition Vehicle (IPEV), popularly known as ‘Indian Air Force on Wheels,’ was terminated at K.R. Circle, which disappointed the crowd that had gathered all along Sayyaji Rao Road and other stretches of Raja Marga.

However, the Indian Navy’s tableau, which was one of the star attractions of the procession, showcased the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ highlighting rapid strides in indigenous warship design, construction, technological innovation and combat readiness. The front of the tableau featured the western ghats, providing natural camouflage to Karwar Naval Base, with a Lighthouse serving as a navigational aid.

The centrepiece was the indigenous aircraft carrier  INS Vikrant, flanked by stealth guided missile destroyer INS Kolkata and DSV INS Vipun.

The Indian Army Band comprised the Madras Sappers Military Band and The Madras Sappers Pipes and Drums Band, which performed the marching tune ‘Vijay Bharat’, much to the relish  of the huge gathering.
