The 42 tableaux that took part in yesterday’s Dasara procession added more colour to the event, with every tableau earning praise from the huge crowd for its outstanding design and craft.
This year’s Dasara had two more tableaux as compared to last year. The Bagalkot Zilla Panchayat designed tableau featuring replicas of Pattadakal, Basavanna’s Kaayakave Kailaasa and Koodalasangama.
The Bengaluru Rural District tableau portrayed the famous Ghati Subramanya Temple and Devanahalli Fort. The tableau also featured a portrait of Bengaluru founder Kempegowda. Belagavi District tableau presented Kittur Rani Chennamma’s heroics in fighting the Britishers. It also featured warrior Sangolli Rayanna who was hanged by the Britishers.
The Bengaluru tableau representing Bengaluru City highlighted Solid Waste Management right from segregation, collection and disposal. The Ballari district tableau featured Tungabhadra Dam, while Bidar district tableau featured ‘Anubhava Mantapa’ at Basavakalyana.
The Vijayapura district tableau displayed the world famous Gol Gumbaz, while Chamarajanagar tableau featured religious shrines amidst forests such as B.R. Hills, Gopalaswamy Hill and Bandipur National Park.
The Gadag district tableau featured reviving of trees, while that of Kalaburagi district displayed its new Airport and tourist spots.
The Davangere tableau displayed its Smart City concept, while Tumakuru tableau featured Centenarian Sri Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Mutt, Hassan tableau showcased replicas of sculptures of Belur and Haliebid, Kodagu district tableau featured Tourism and Uttara Kannada tableau featured tourist spot Yana and the life of Siddi tribals.
The Dharwad tableau highlighted Poet Da.Ra. Bendre’s concept of Dharwad as a Cultural City, while Haveri district tableau showcased replica of its Blackbuck Sanctuary at Ranibennur and Peacock Sanctuary at Bankapura.
Mandya district tableau showcased replica of Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) Dam and contributions of Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar to the district, while Mysuru district tableau featured Golden Temple of Bylakuppe in Periyapatna taluk.
The tableau of National Cadet Cops (NCC) showcased its rescue and relief operations during the natural disaster that struck Kodagu in August. Under the theme ‘Lending help to flood victims,’ the tableau had candidates jumping from helicopters to rescue victims.
The Dakshina Kannada district tableau featured ‘Koti Channaiah Tulunada Veeraru’ focusing on Koti Channaiah and Pisciculture, Yakshagana, Bhootharadhane etc..
The Chikkaballapur district tableau displayed its famous shrine of Vidurashwatha and other religious places.
The Udupi district tableau showcased the concept of Tulunadu, while Yadgir district tableau displayed the rich Banjara Culture, Raichur’s Yermarus Thermal Power Station and Shivamogga district showcased the contributions of Bidanur Shivappa Nayaka.
The Chikkamagaluru district tableau with the theme ‘Bhoo Taayi Coffee Kanye,’ featured its agricultural corps, Belavadi Veera Narayana Temple, Bhadra Forest and Kemmanagudi, Kuduremukh and Baba Budangiri Hill Stations. The tableau by the Health Department showcased all health services rendered by it, while the tableau of Minorities Welfare Department focused on various schemes and initiatives launched by it and the tableau of the Education Department showcased Mid-day Meal Scheme, Cycle Distribution and such other schemes.
The Kannada and Culture Department’s tableau ‘Karnataka Navarathnagalu,’ was well-designed and attractive with replicas of Kuvempu, actor Dr. Rajkumar, S. Nijalingappa, Prof. C.N.R. Rao, Dr. Devi Shetty and Bhimsen Joshi.
The tableau of Higher Education Department showcased the importance of Universities and the replica of a palm holding a book and was complete with a message by Higher Education Minister and also District in-Charge Minister G.T. Devegowda on LED screen.
The Tourism Department’s tableau, under the tagline ‘One State Many Worlds,’ showcased adventure sports like Trekking, Hiking, River Rafting etc.
In order to create awareness about legal services, the Mysuru District Legal Service Authority (MDLSA) had built a tableau with District Principal and Sessions Court Judge S.K. Vantigodi, District Minister G.T. Devegowda and MP Pratap Simha walking along with it.
The tableau of Information Department highlighted various Government schemes and initiatives.
