Athletics is the mother of all sporting events in the world sporting scene. Athletics contribute greatly to the development of character traits such as courage, determination, sense of achievement and as well as develops personality development. Our city’s upcoming and talented athlete Mohith N. Raj, has done all Mysureans proud with his performances in National and State level championships. Mohith, taking part in the Karnataka State Pre-University Athletic Meet held at Shivamogga from Oct. 23-25 2019, won the gold medal in the boys discus throw event. He has earned selection to represent the State in the National Level Tournament. He is our Star This Week.
Mohith, I PUC Commerce student at Marimallappa’s Pre University College, is the son of former international athlete Sridevi and Raj of Mysuru. Continuing the tradition in the family and encouraged by his parents, Mohith took up to athletics and excelled in the throwing events.
Taking part in the recently held Pre-University State Meet held at Shivamogga he won the gold in discus throw event with a throw of 54.75m. Mohith with this performance earns selection to represent the State in the Nationals. Mohith last month represented Mysore district in the State Junior Athletic Meet in Udupi and won the Gold in the U-18 boys discus throw event. He has represented Mysuru district in the National Inter-District Athletic Championships held at Vaizag last year and has performed well. Mohith encouraged by his parents, College Physical Education Director Parashivamurthy and MDAA, intends to work hard in the days to come and win a medal in the senior Nationals. This youngster has the potential to reach greater heights in this sport. Hope in the days to come Mohith achieves his goal.
