Talented Cricketer: Kruthik Krishna

Cricket is a very popular game in our country and after the exploits of the Indian team which has been doing well in the International scene, many youngsters have taken up cricket as their career. Mysuru also has its share of producing talented cricketers who have gone on to play higher level of cricket. On these lines is 16-year-old cricketer Kruthik Krishna who has impressed everyone with his excellent performances representing the Karnataka State in the Vijay Merchant Trophy U-16 (2016-17). Kruthik Krishna performed well in the All-India level and also in the South-Zone league phases of the tournament.

The excellent performances in the Tournament has earned him a place in the South Zone U-16 squad for the annual coaching camp to be held at Vaizag shortly along with two other Mysore Zone players L.R. Kumar and Satvik Shamanur, who also represented the State in the U-16 level. Kruthik Krishna is our ‘Star This Week.’

Kruthik is a left-hand opening batsman and a wicket-keeper. He represented Karnataka in the Vijay Merchant Trophy U-16 South-Zone Tournament 2016-17 and performed well. He scored a vital 42 (5x4s) against Hyderabad in the league tie played at Shivamogga. In the pre-quarter-final knock-out, All-India Tournament at Gwalior against Vidharbha, Kruthik scored a vital 55 (8x4s, 1x6s) in Karnataka’s first innings score of 243. He remained 8 no in the second innings.

Kruthik was part of the Mysore Zone U-16 team which won the Inter-Zonal Tournament 2016-17 at Bengaluru and scored a total of 188 runs in 6 innins with 60 n.o. as his highest. This year, he is leading Mandya XI in the Mysore Zone U-16 Inter-District Cricket Tournament which starts from today.

Kruthik has also represented the State in the U-14 level. He was a prolific scorer for Mysore Zone in the U-14 level.

A student of Abhinava Bharathi Vidyakendra, Mandya, this lad has the talent in him to go further in his cricketing career.

Kruthik plays for PET, Mandya, in the KSCA Mysore Zonal league under the guidance of his coach Mahadev in Mandya. His stint with the KSCA Mysuru Zonal Academy and guidance from coaches at the Academy and the support from the Mysuru Zone has enabled him to improve his talent further.

A cricketer with the eagerness to learn, Kruthik intends to work hard and play higher level of cricket in the days to come.
