Talented Cricketer: Madan Mohan

Cricket has been one of the very popular games in our country and many youngsters have taken up cricket as their career. Mysuru also has its share of producing talented cricketers who have gone on to represent the State and the country. Mysuru’s Madan Mohan is one such cricketer, who recently represented University of Mysore (UoM) in the All India Rohinton Baria Trophy Inter-University Cricket Tournament 2018-19 and captained the side to enable his team to emerge as the runners-up in the Championship. He performed well with the bat and the ball throughout the tournament. He has been selected to represent the South Zone Vizzy Trophy Tournament as vice-captain of the side in the Tournament to be played at Gwalior from Mar.17 to 23. He is our ‘Star This Week.’

Madan Mohan, an all-rounder, who bats in the middle-order and bowls his wily off-spinners is an asset to any side. He impressed with his consistent performance in the South Zone Tournament and also in the All-India Tournament.

He captained the side to enable his team to emerge runners-up in All India Rohinton Baria Trophy Inter-University Cricket Tournament 2018-19.

The last time the UoM won the title was in 1961-62. In 2004-05, UoM finished fourth.

Madan is a MBA student at Manasagangothri, Mysuru.

He has represented Mysore zone in the U-23 level, U-19, U-16 level. Madan plays for Mohan’s XI in the KSCA Mysuru Zonal League and has been their star performer with the bat and ball.

Encouraged by his parents S. Mohan Krishna and mother K.S. Meena, Madan has made rapid strides in the game as a all-rounder of substance. He represented BEML Ltd., Mysuru, as a guest player this year and performed well in the KSCA Group II, II Division League matches for them against LIC and HAL respectively. He learnt the basis of the game from his father initially and later on was coached by former Ranji cricketer B.S. Vishwanath.

Encouraged by the KSCA Mysuru Zone, University of Mysore coach Dr. Mansoor Ahmed and by his Club Mohan’s XI, Madan has the talent in him to make it to the higher league in the days to come.
