Talented TT Player: Spoorthi

Table Tennis is a global sport and is quite popular in Mysuru. Mysuru has been from time to time producing talented TT players who have gone on to represent the State and the Country in various events. M.V. Spoorthi is one such player who has been consistently performing well in the State and National level Tournaments in the Youth Girls and Women’s section. Spoorthi won the Youth Girls Singles title in the Canara Bank Cup Karnataka State Ranking TT Tournament conducted by MDTTA at the University Gymnasium Hall in city on July 22. She is our ‘Star This Week.’

Spoorthi, a student of SBRR Mahajana FGC, Mysuru, won the Youth Girls Singles title in the Canara Bank Cup State Ranking Tourney by beating G. Yashaswini 11-5, 7-11, 10-12, 11-5, 9-11, 14-12, 11-4 in the final. In the semi-final, Spoorthi got the better of A. Samyuktha 6-11, 8-11, 11-8, 12-10, 11-8, 11-9 and in the quarter-finals, scored a good win over D. Kalyani 11-8, 11-6, 8-11, 11-3, 11-2.

In the ongoing State Bank Open Karnataka State Ranking TT Tourney in Bengaluru on Friday, Spoorthi lost in the Youth Girls semi-finals to A. Samyuktha 11-1, 11-5, 6-11, 7-11, 12-14, 8-11.
Spoorthi, taking part in the 7th Belgaum Table Tennis Academy & Union Gymkhana Academy’s State Ranking TT Tournament at Belagavi, won a triple crown clinching the women’s Singles, Youth Girls Singles and Junior Girls Singles titles respectively.

Spoorthi has represented Karnataka State in the Junior and Sub-Junior section in the National Championships and has performed well. She, along with Archana Kamath, won a bronze medal by clinching the Doubles title in the National level in the Sub-Junior Girls section.

Spoorthi is encouraged by her parents and has been one of the top TT players in the State in the Junior Girls and Women’s section.
