Talents galore at MICAnvas ‘18

Mysuru: MICAnvas ’18, the 6th edition of State-level Annual Academic and Cultural Fest of MICA (Mysore Institute of Commerce and Arts), was held recently with some scintillating performances by PU and UG students of Mysuru colleges at the College campus. The Fest hosted India’s first flute boxer Sudhir and Kannada’s new singing sensation Sanjith Hegde. The cultural show presented singers, dancers and ramp walkers. Audiences of more than 2,500 were enthralled to the fullest.

MICAnvas’18 was formally inaugurated at Country Inn and Suites by Founder and Managing Partner of Nectar Fresh Foods Chayaa Nanjappa.  

In her address, she narrated the journey of her life, as to how strong will and determination transformed herself from a home-maker to a global business lady.

In the welcome address, Principal M.N. Ponnamma explained the theme of the fest ‘Ant and the Grasshopper’ to the participants with reference to present day living. Achievements and activities of MICAns were presented in the annual report.

Syed Ishaq, Director, MET, in his address, told the students how a great person is formed when many responsible people, read it as teachers, come together with a mission. Amir Sadan, Secretary, MET, presided. MICAns were awarded the coveted MIST certificates mentioning their skills earned, honed and utilised.

The inauguration was followed by the academic activities which saw more than 125 participants competing to prove their academic acumen.

As a prelude to the MICAnvas’18 MIBasketball and MI7s Floodlight Football Tournaments were organised in Dec.2017.

Sports events

MIBaketball Girls – Winners: Aryans Basketball Club and Runners: St. Philomena’s Girls.

Boys – Winners: PGSC Manasagangothri and Runners: St. Joseph’s FGC; Best Player: C.D. Ananya of Aryans Club and P.P. Kshithij of MICA Mahesh PU College.

Winners and runners were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 3,000 and Rs. 2,000 respectively along with certificates and trophies.

MI7s Football – Winners: FMKMCC Madikeri and Runners: SBRR Mahjana FGC Mysuru; Best Player: Md. Fawaz of MICA Mahesh PU College. Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 6000 were awarded as cash prize to the winners and runners respectively along with certificates and trophies.

Academic Events

MISTocrat: Mohith N. Beltur of SBRR Mahajana FGC; Finance: Prajwal Aradhya and Anand Jain of ICAI; HR: Shivani Tholsi and Mohit Chandrashekar of SBRR Mahajana FGC; Marketing: Mohan and Nipun of Sapient College of Commerce and Management.

Team lead by Saranjitha of SBRR Mahajana FGC was adjudged the Best Team. Best team was awarded Rs. 10,000. MISTocrat – Rs. 5000, Finance, HR and Marketing winning teams were awarded Rs.2,500 each along with certificates and trophies.

Cultural events

Team ‘Fern and Petals’ of SBRR Mahajana FGC won the trophy and the cash prize of Rs.20,000 for Rampwalk and Fashion Show.
