‘The Growing Threats to Democracy- A Global Scenario’
Mysuru: Mysore Open Forum has organised a talk on ‘The Growing Threats to Democracy – A Global Scenario’ by Prof. Ramakrishna Reddy at 10.30 am on Sunday (Feb. 9) at Kalpa Kshetra Auditorium, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysuru.
Prof. Reddy did M.A. at University of Mysore and Ph.D in Kentucky, USA. A Professor at Weber State University, Utah, USA, from 1977 to 2018, he has authored a book on India’s Policy in the UN, published by Fairley Dickinson U Press, 1972.
He has contributed many articles on Parliamentary Democracy which appeared in Utah Arts, Letters and Science Journal, Role of Permanent Members in the UN Security Council, Mysore University Journal, Politics Across Cultures, Western Social Science Journal.
Prof. Reddy was honoured with the Dixon Award by Weber State University as a Political Science Professor recognised for career excellence and distinguished service to students. During a teaching career spanning 52 years, Prof. Reddy witnessed Weber State evolve from a fledgling senior college into a nationally respected university with a student enrolment of nearly 27,000.
He was named Outstanding Social Sciences Faculty Member of 1980-81. He infused his classes with relevant assignments and topical guest presenters. In the wake of deadly attacks in the US and abroad, he invited India’s Inspector General of Police to speak to his students on combating terrorism.
