Talk on “Changing Face of Technology and the Indian Scenario”

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysore Open Forum has organised a talk on ‘Changing Face of Technology & the Indian Scenario’ by Dr. V.K. Aatre, former DG, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Sunday (July 21) at 10.30 am at Kalpa Kshetra Auditorium, 581/1, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysuru.

The talk will have two streams: Changing face of technology and the Indian scenario and is open to all. [Mob:94498-195360].

Dr. V.K. Aatre is a BE (Elec) from the University of Mysore and a Ph.D. from Waterloo, Canada. He has been a Professor at Nova Scotia Technical University. Halifax, Canada. He was the Principal Scientific Officer and Director, Naval Physical and Oceanographic Laboratory, DRDO Kochi – Design and Development of Sonar for ships, submarines and aircraft for Indian Navy, Construction of Research Ship Sagaradwani for Oceanography.

He served as Chief Controller, DRDO – Design and development of Electronic Warfare systems, Communication Systems and Radars for the three services. He became the DG DRDO, DG ADA and Scientific Adviser to Defence Minister.

He was involved in the first flight of LCA and Induction of Agni missile and in the Design and development of Micro and Nano devices and systems.

He has been honoured with many awards including Karnataka Science and Technology Academy (2015), Honorary Doctorate degrees from University of Hyderabad  VTU and University of Mysore, Padma  Bhushana (2000), Padma Vibhushana (2016), Lifetime Achievement Award Indian National Academy of Engineering   (2016), Lifetime Achievement Award DRDO (2016).
