Mysore Open Forum has organised a talk on ‘The Troubling Triad – Energy, Economics, Climate Change’ by Maj. Gen.(Retd.) Dr. S.G. Vombatkere, at 6 pm on Feb. 19 (Wednesday) at Kalpa Kshetra auditorium, Vijayanagar 4th Stage, 1st Phase, Mysore (Mob: 9449819536). The talk is open to all. Dr. Vombatkere will discuss various related aspects of Energy, Economics and Climate change. The endless cycle of economic growth impacts increasing numbers of people, especially those sections of society which are adversely affected by depletion of natural capital and its downstream environmental and social effects. It is unrealistic to believe that the real-world of finite natural resources can support the present economic paradigm of perpetual economic growth, although there may be little realisation of this at leadership levels globally. This economic paradigm has no handle on addressing global warming and climate change.
