Talk on ‘Life of Butterflies’

Mysore/Mysuru: Arivu Trust and Minds United Trust Infosys Foundation Nature Club and Library have organised a talk on “Life of Butterflies” by Sammilan Shetty at Arivu School in Lingambudhipalya on Apr. 8 at 6.30 pm.

Sammilan’s passion for butterflies led to the establishment of Butterfly Park in Belvai near Moodabidri, Mangaluru, in 2011, the State’s first-ever private butterfly reserve.

Sammilan was working as a lecturer in hotel management before he quit in 2015 to pursue his love for butterflies full-time. His 100-minute documentary ‘Life of Butterflies’, released in 2019, showcases the natural history of butterfly behaviour, introducing its audience to the amazing world of these beautiful insects.

It is also India’s first-ever comprehensive documentary on butterflies and was shot exclusively at Butterfly Park in Belvai by Sammilan for four years.

The film is commended by butterfly experts, and nature enthusiasts and has viewers across the world. The butterfly park at Belvai was also honoured by ‘The World Book of Records, London, in 2018.
