Talk on Lion-Tailed Macaque held at Mysuru Zoo

Mysuru: Mysuru Zoo had organised a talk on the subject “Ecology and conservation of Lion-Tailed Macaques (Macaca silenus)” by Dr. Ajith Kumar, Director, Post-Graduate Programme in Wildlife Biology and Conservation, National Centre for Biological Sciences, Benguluru, at its premises recently. This was the eighteenth ‘Conservation Speak’ programme.

He spoke at length on the captive management, nutritional requirements and conservation efforts of Lion-Tailed Macaques.

B.P. Ravi, Member Secretary, Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK), Dr. Meva Singh, Wildlife expert and Emeritus Professor, University of Mysore, M.C. Sidramappa, Zoo Executive Director, Zoo Officers and staff, zoo volunteers, NGO’s and wildlife enthusiasts were amongst those who were present.

Conservation Speak is an educational programme conducted on a Tuesday of every month at Mysuru Zoo to create a platform for wildlife enthusiasts who can interact with the invited experts. This programme aims to create awareness for conservation and invite people to share their ideas to promote well-being of the nature and wildlife, according to a press release from Mysuru Zoo.
