Talk on ‘Mysore Palace and Legacy of Cast Iron Architecture’ tomorrow

Mysore/Mysuru: HH Sri Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Foundation, Mysuru, has organised a talk by Prof. Axel Sowa on the topic ‘Mysore Palace and The Legacy of Cast Iron Architecture’ tomorrow (Oct. 8) at 5.30 pm at Wadiyar Centre for Architecture, Krishnaraja Boulevard in city. 

There will be no entry fee for those attending the talk.

Profile: Prof. Axel Sowa studied architecture in Berlin and Paris. After gaining professional experiences in Paris and Kyoto, he became Editor-in-Chief of the international magazine L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui in Paris in the year 2000.

After ten years as a journalist in France, he was appointed Professor of Architectural Theory at the RWTH Aachen University in Germany. Founder of academic journal Candide, a journal for architectural knowledge, Axel’s research focuses on aesthetic theories and the beginning of serial production of architectural components.

He has published numerous articles in European journals and curated exhibitions in Germany and the Netherlands. Since 2019, he has been co-operating with IIT Roorkee in a research project on experimental architecture and material culture. His research on the cast iron elements of Mysore Palace is funded by DFG, the German agency for scientific research.
