Tarangaa’s 9th annual day

Mysuru: Tarangaa-Eternal Music, a Mysuru-based institution dedicated to the promotion and propagation of Indian classical music, will celebrate its ninth annual event on July 19 at Veene Seshanna Bhavana (Ganabharathi) on Adichunchanagiri Road.

The programme, scheduled to begin at 10 am, will be inaugurated by city industrialist and philanthropist Dr. M. Jagannath Shenoy. R. Vasudev Bhat, President of Vijaya Vittala Institutions and Honorary Secretary of BSS Vidyodaya, will preside over  the function.

Established in 2015 under the guidance of Vidushi Smitha Srikiran, an ‘A’ Grade artiste of Akashvani Mysuru and Doordarshan and a noted flautist, Tarangaa was founded with the objective of nurturing an appreciation for Indian classical music among young learners.

The institution also provides performance opportunities for aspiring artistes and regularly organises workshops, lecture demonstrations and concerts featuring eminent musicians.

Over the years, Tarangaa has emerged as one of Karnataka’s respected centres for classical music education. Through the guidance of Vidushi Smitha Srikiran, the institution has trained students in flute and Karnatak vocal music in India and abroad, many of whom have performed on prestigious platforms.

The annual celebration will feature performances by Tarangaa’s students, highlighting the richness of the Karnatak music tradition.
