Tattoo helps identify decomposed body

Mysuru: A tattoo on his hand helped the Talakad Police identify a highly decomposed body found floating in the river at Talakad yesterday afternoon.

The body was found around 4.30 pm and fished out by the Police. While photographing the body, the Police noticed a tattoo reading ‘Mom & Dad I love you’ on the deceased’s hand.

They photographed the tattoo and shared it on a Police WhatsApp group to establish the man’s identity.

Soon, Harohalli Police in Bengaluru South responded, identifying the deceased as K.N. Sunil (31). His wife, Rakshitha, had lodged a missing complaint at the Harohalli Police Station on Oct. 21.

Sunil, a native of Kanakapura, had married four months ago. He worked at an ice cream factory in Harohalli and lived in the same locality. He used to visit Kanakapura once a week to see his mother.

Domestic dispute

According to sources, Sunil and Rakshitha had a quarrel on Oct. 20, following which her father took her to his house. When Sunil did not visit his mother as usual, she called him on his mobile phone. He answered and told her that he would visit her in a day or two.

When she called him again on Oct. 21, his phone was switched off. She then contacted Rakshitha to enquire about his whereabouts but received no information. Rakshitha subsequently lodged a missing complaint at the Harohalli Police Station.

Talakad Police registered a case and shifted the body to the mortuary at Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) for a post-mortem examination. The examination was conducted today, after which the body was handed over to the family.

The Talakad Police have registered a case.
