Tax dues: MCC officials lock hotels, shops

Mysuru: Officials of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), which raided hotels, shops and other establishments for non-payment of taxes and for not obtaining Trade Licenses, have locked various hotels and other establishments behind the main MCC Office in Fort Mohalla here yesterday.

The officials raided True Spirits, Adduri Comforts, Nanda Hotel and Supriya Lodge yesterday morning and locked these commercial establishments, according to MCC Zone-1 Revenue Inspector Manjunath.

The establishments had not paid their tax dues totalling more than Rs.1 lakh and had also not renewed their Trade Licenses but were conducting business. 

The owners of these commercial establishments have been issued notices to pay the taxes within three days, said Manjunath.

The raid was conducted on instructions from MCC Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde in which Revenue staff Suresh Kumar, Putturaj, Pratap and others took part.
