Mysuru: Stressing on the need for teachers to use simpler methods for teaching Mathematics, University of Mysore (UoM) Mathematics faculty Prof. S. Bhargav said that consistent thinking and efforts were needed to solve complex mathematical problems. He was speaking at a prog. organised by Karnataka Rajya Vignana Parishat, marking the International year of Mathematics 2017 at JSS High School, Lakshmipuram in city recently.
Noting that mathematics had to be learnt by applying logic, he called upon students to update their knowledge even as they put in efforts to excel in academics.
He observed that Ramanujam’s innovations in mathematics has become important in building mathematical models.
Maintaining that learning mathematics is the best way to pay our respects to scholar Ramanujam, he called for more research into Ramanujam’s works.
Chief Guest R. Anantharamu said Science and Mathematics are two faces of the same coin.
Srimathi Hariprasad, who presided, said that there is no life without mathematics and added that Ramanujam’s scholarly works has become the object of research in foreign countries. School Headmaster Channabasappa and others were present.
