Technical talk on ‘Analytical Instrumentation’ held

Mysuru: The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation, GSSSIETW, Mysuru, had organised a Technical Talk on ‘Analytical Instrumentation and its Application’ for the students of 4th and 6th sem recently under Instrument Society of India (ISOI) Student Chapter. K. Anbalagan, Sr. Technician, CFTRI, Mysuru, was the resource person.

During the talk, Anbalagan explained about difference between the instruments, analytical instruments, equipment and tool.

He briefed about basics of analytical instrumentation which includes Electromagnetic spectrum, emission lines, absorption lines frequency range and wavelength range of different electromagnetic radiations.

He explained in detail about the instrumentation behind various analytical instruments like IR spectrometer, UV-Visible spectrometer, Atomic Absorption spectroscopy, Atomic Emission spectroscopy and chromatography.

During the interactive session, he motivated the students to involve in research work in the field of analytical instrumentation.

Also, the Department of Instrumentation Technology, GSSSIETW, had organised a Technical talk on ‘Neural Network and its Applications’ for the students of 8th semester Instrumentation Technology under ISOI. The resource person for the technical talk was Dr. S. Raviraja, Founder Chairman, Royal Research Foundation, India.

Dr. Raviraja explained about Artificial Intelligence and Neural Networks. He illustrated about Neural Network with examples of Artificial life, Smart cars using sensors, Washing Machine principle using fuzzy logic, Scientific predictions for High speed rails, making of ship against wind, usage of computers in home, Robotics, Face recognition, Medicine diagnosis, simple neuron, back propagation algorithm, multi layer feed forward artificial neural network etc.

He advised the students to involve in the research field of Neural networks and Artificial intelligence for improving the technical knowledge and skills.

During the session, he highlighted about Artificial intelligence with practical examples and videos.

Dr. M. Shivakumar, Professor and Head, Department of EIE/IT, faculty and students were present on the occasion.
