TechNIEks Run for a cause

Nearly 1,000 enthusiasts took part in the TechNIEKs Run organised by the city’s National Institute of Engineering (NIE) as part of its TechNIEks-2017 in city this morning.

The event featuring 10K run and 5K run was organised in aid of special children and was held under three categories — Men, Women and Veterans (above 50 years).

The run was flagged off by NIE Dean (Academic) Dr. G.S. Suresh at NIE’s Golden Jubilee Block on Manandavadi Road.

NIE Student Welfare Officer Dr. T.N. Sadashiva Murthy and others were present.

The 10K Run route covered Silk Factory Circle (B. Basavalingappa Circle), Nanjumalige Circle, SDM Circle, Ballal Circle, RTO Office on JLB Road, Ramaswamy Circle, Saraswathipuram Fire Brigade Station, Kukkarahalli Lake Bund Road (Radhakrishna Avenue), Kuvempunagar Double Road, Hotel Shantisagar, NIE Boys Hostel, Kuvempungar, before culminating at the starting point, covering a distance of 10,000 mts.

The 5K Run route covered Silk Factory Circle, Nanjumalige Circle, SDM Circle, Ballal Circle, RTO Circle, before culminating at the starting point, covering a distance of 5,000 mts.

The winners

10K Run (Men):  D.J. Chethan, R. Sandeep, Mahesh Londe, S.N. Sridhara, K. Tanuj Kumar and T. Sharath.

10K Run (Men Veterans): Ajit Pandu, D. Nagesh and V.K. Kaul.

10K Run (Women): Thippavva Sannakki, H.R. Taramani and K.M. Ganga.

5K Run (Men): Bella Nayaka, Dhiraj Karumbaiah and P. Ashutesh.

5K Run (Men-Veterans): Y.P. Udayashankar, K.N. Keshavamurthy and S.R. Gaikwad.

5K Run (Women): Apsana, Priyanka Gopi and S. Divya.

5K Run (Women Veterans): Leela Udayashankar.

Also, a special prize was awarded to six-year-old Shashank, for completing                                                the 5K Run.
