Mysuru: A temporary hospital will be set up at a central location of Bidarahalli, Maartalli and Sulwadi to facilitate post-treatment and trauma care for the poison victims who have been discharged from hospitals.
According to Mysuru District Hospital authorities, the hospital will function for six months and will handle the patients and counsel them to lead a normal life and get back to their routine. After recovering from short-term health effects, some patients face reactions at a later stage due to the poisonous organophosphorus that was mixed with the prasadam (tomato rice bath).
“All the victims are being screened for psychological trauma before being discharged. Psychiatrists from Mysuru Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) have been interacting with the patients at K.R. Hospital and counselling them accordingly to overcome the shock. Even after their discharge, they can visit the temporary hospital where even ventilator facility will be made available, the officers said.
They said that all the 101 patients who have been admitted at various hospitals in city are being personally assessed for psychological trauma as there is a tendency of victims remaining in shock and may need support to overcome it.
