Ten-lane Mysuru-Bengaluru Economic Corridor to be thrown open by Feb-March, 2022

Bengaluru: The works on Mysuru-Bengaluru ten-lane economic corridor will be complete in the stipulated period and will be dedicated to the nation in February-March next year, said Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Govind Karjol.

Talking to reporters here yesterday, he said the project, being taken up by National Highway Authority of India, was going on briskly despite Covid-19 pandemic. Already, 40 percent to 60 percent of works were completed and it will be ready for inauguration in another 8-9 months. This ten-lane economic corridor will also link to Mysuru-Bengaluru-Chennai Corridor. The works between Bengaluru and Chennai were going on in full phase, he added.

Karjol said his Department had put up a good show in spite of Corona crisis. Of the total Rs 9,033 crore for the year 2019-20, Rs 8,788 crore had been spent and in 2020-21, the progress has been 99 percent with spending of Rs. 10,743 crore of the total Rs.10,893 crore released grants to the Department. 

In all, Rs 12,122 crore had been spent on development of 12,125 km. Besides, the construction of 2,961 km State Highway, 9,164 district main roads and 621 bridges had been done in the last one year, he noted.
