Dasara holidays for schools in Mysuru district from Oct. 3 to 21
Mysuru: The Tent School, set up by the Department of School Education and Literacy for the children of Mahouts, Kavadis and other caretakers of Dasara elephants, who have arrived in city, began functioning in the Palace premises from Tuesday.
Speaking to Star of Mysore, DDPI (Administration) Udaykumar said that classes from 1st to 8th standard are being held in the temporary Tent School for children of Dasara elephant caretakers who arrived in the city and camping in the Palace premises since Aug. 28.
Pointing out that currently there are 14 children attending the Tent School, he said that children of Mahouts and Kavadis of Dasara elephants, who would arrive in the second batch shortly, too would join the School.
One subject expert and a language teacher have been deputed to the Tent School, Udaykumar said adding that the School will function until the Dasara elephants caretakers leave the city after the Jamboo Savari next month.
The DDPI further said that the Dasara holidays for all schools (Primary, Higher Primary and High Schools) in the district would be from Oct. 3 to 21.
DCF (Wildlife) Dr. I.B. Prabhugowda, BEO Krishna, Planning Officer Shobha, Srikantamurthy and others were present.
