Nanjangud: An increase in number of theft cases in town of late has driven the residents to panic.
Last night a textile shop on R.P. Road, 18th Cross was reportedly burgled by forcing open the rolling-shutter and miscreants have stolen Rs. 20,000 in cash and goods worth Rs. 30,000, according to a complaint lodged by the shop owner Shakeel with the Town Police.
Later the miscreants made a vain bid to gain entry to a cement shop on Hullahalli Road.
A few days ago, cash of Rs. 7 lakh was snatched by miscreants by diverting the attention of the victim who had just drawn the amount from a bank.
All these incidents indicate a well organised gang operating in town. Hence, the residents and shop-keepers have requested Police to step up night vigil.
The Town Police have registered the cases and begun investigation. Assistant SP Mohammed Sujitha visited the spot.
