Eight-seed Dhruthi T. Venugopal entered the quarter-finals of women’s singles event in the $15,000 ITF Women’s Tennis Tournament being held at Hua Hin in Thailand yesterday.
In the pre-quarterfinal Dhruthi beat Korea’s Sung-Hee-HAN 6-4, 6-2 and sailed into the last eight stage of the tournament. In the earlier round, Dhruthi had a convincing 6-0, 6-2 win over K.A. Andrea (CAM) to progress further in the tournament.
In the women’s doubles event, Akari Inoue & Michika Ozeki (JPN) beat Dhruthi and Risa Ushijima (JPN) 6-4, 6-4 in the pre-quarterfinal.
