Dr. C.N. Manjunath, E. Tukaram, Priyanka Jarkiholi and Sagar Khandre

Bengaluru: Former Jayadeva Hospital Director Dr. C.N. Manjunath, MLA E. Tukaram, Priyanka Jarkiholi, daughter of PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi and Sagar Khandre, son of Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, have proved giant killers in the State in the just concluded LS polls.

While  BJP candidate Dr. Manjunath, who is the son-in-law of JD(S) Supremo and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda, defeated Congress candidate D.K. Suresh, the younger brother of Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC President D.K. Shivakumar, in the prestigious Bangalore (Rural) seat, Priyanka Jarkiholi of the Congress defeated BJP veteran Anna Saheb Jolle in Chikkodi seat,  E. Tukaram, the Sandur Congress MLA, defeated former Minister and BJP heavyweight B. Sriramulu in Ballari and Sagar Khandre defeated Union Minister and 2-time MP Bhagwanth Khuba of BJP by a big margin. Incidentally, all these four candidates who won, contested the LS polls for the first time.
