Theatre buffs beware ! Vehicle-lifters on the prowl

Mysuru: Visitors to the eight-day annual theatre festival Bahuroopi- 2018, which is scheduled to be inaugurated today evening, need to be cautious with their vehicles as a man was caught stealing a scooter at Rangayana premises here this morning.

The man has been identified as R.K. Bhaskar of Kumbarakoppal.

The incident: Today at about 10.15 am, one Venkatesh, who has opened a book stall in Rangayana premises for Bahuroopi, came on his TVS Jupiter scooter (KA-55-W-8650) and parked it but forgot to take the keys as he was in a hurry to give the receipt book to one of his employees.

When Venkatesh went inside, Bhaskar, who saw the scooter with keys in it, wore a helmet, started it and began to ride the scooter in an attempt to steal, it is learnt.

Venkatesh, who came back to the spot, on seeing his scooter being lifted, raised an alarm alerting the public. Soon, those who were parking their vehicles nearby, managed to catch hold of Bhaskar along with the scooter, thrashed him and handed him over to Jayalakshmipuram Police. The Police, who took Bhaskar into custody, are interrogating him.
