Thespian Dr. Rajkumar remembered

 Deputy Commissioner Darpan Jain seen after garlanding the statue of Dr. Rajkumar as part of the latter’s 89th birth anniversary this morning as DCP N. Vishnuvardhana, Assistant Director of the Department of Kannada and Culture H. Channappa and others look on.

Mysuru: The 89th birth anniversary of Thespian late Dr. Rajkumar was celebrated at various places in city this morning.

On behalf of the District Administration, the  statue of Dr. Rajkumar at Rajkumar Park in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy Temple was garlanded by Deputy Commissioner Darpan Jain.

ADC T. Yogesh, ZP CEO P. Shivashankar, DCP N. Vishunvardhana, Department of Information and Public Relations Assistant Director Raju, Department of Kannada and Culture Assistant Director H. Channappa and others were present.

Members of Shiva Sainya Shivarajkumar Abhimani Sangha, led by Hon. President Somamma and President Ravi, also garlanded the statue and a huge cake was cut on the occasion.

Members of City Hotel Owner’s Association, led by President C. Narayanagowda, too garlanded the statue and distributed sweets to about 10,000 people.

Karnataka Exhibition Authority CEO’s Office Manager C.V. Reddappa garlanded the bust of Dr. Rajkumar near the office.

A bust of Dr. Rajkumar on Chamaraja Double Road was garlanded by members of Mayura Kannada Yuvakara Sangha led by President Srinath Babu.

Members of Rajkumar Kannada Sangha offered floral tributes to a portrait of Dr. Rajkumar and distributed juice and butter milk to the people.

Similarly, members of Simhada Mari Kannada Sangha showered flowers on the portrait of Dr. Rajkumar on Vinoba Road. Butter milk and juice were distributed on the occasion.
