Mysuru: The member of a gang of robbers who were hatching a plan to rob was caught by the public and handed over to Police but the robber managed to escape from Police Station within an hour on Apr.7.
There were six persons suspiciously moving around on that night near Ramakrishanagar ‘K’ Block. The public who noticed this gave them a chase. However, even as five others managed to escape, one person was caught and handed over to Kuvempunagar Police Station. A Constable, who was present there, made him sit in the hall and gave information through phone to the higher official who was on rounds. Later, when the cop was busy with his work, the miscreant escaped, it is said.
When the public called the Station after an hour, it came to light that he had escaped. The public expressed their anger at the negligence of Police. Later, when SOM spoke to the Inspector he said, “I have reported for work only on Sunday (Apr.8). I will make an enquiry and find out what has happened.”
K.R. Sub-Division ACP Ramappa told SOM, “Since this is election time, everyone is busy in the night beat. There was only one staff who was busy in his work. This helped the miscreant escape. However, we have identified him and will catch him at the earliest.”
