Chamarajanagar: While it is common for a road to border one or two Assembly Constituencies, there’s a unique road in Chamarajanagar that intersects with four Assembly Constituencies in all its four directions.
The Heggawadi Cross Road, located in Chamarajanagar Taluk, intersects with the Bengaluru-Dindigul National Highway and traverses through four Assembly Constituencies in all directions.
Situated at the border of the Mysuru district, this road marks the transition into Chamarajanagar for travellers continuing ahead. Heading south leads to Nanjangud, while the Varuna Assembly Constituency lies to the left and the Gundlupet Assembly Constituency to the right.
Although Varuna and Nanjangud Constituencies are situated within Mysuru District, they are categorised under the Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha Constituency. Similarly, both the Chamarajanagar and Gundlupet Assembly segments fall under the purview of the Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha Constituency.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah holds the seat for the Varuna Constituency, while Darshan Dhruvanarayan, son of the late Chamarajanagar MP R. Dhruvararayan, represents the Nanjangud Assembly segment. Gundlupet is represented by MLA H.M. Ganesh Prasad, son of former MLA late H.S. Mahadevaprasad, while Chamarajanagar has chosen C. Puttarangashetty as its MLA.
Remarkably, all four Assembly segments are currently represented by the Congress MLAs. However, in 2019 elections, the Chamarajanagar Lok Sabha seat was secured by V. Sreenivasa Prasad, who contested on the BJP ticket.
