Thousand women take out march to save environment

Mysuru: An awareness rally to save environment, organised jointly by Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (DRDP) and Rajeev Sneha Balaga, was taken out in city this morning with the theme ‘Save Environment Today for a Peaceful Tomorrow.’

About 1,000 women members of DRDP participated in the rally holding placards with meaningful messages like ‘Protecting environment is everyone’s responsibility’, ‘Shun plastic, make life classic’, ‘Conserve water, protect environment’ and ‘Destroying environment is destruction of mankind’.

The rally was launched by H.V. Rajeev, President of District Co-operative Union, at the premises of MMK&SDM College in Krishnamurthypuram here by distributing saplings and seed balls. Saplings were also planted in the College premises.

The rally passed through RTO Circle, JLB Road, Krishnaraja Boulevard and culminated at the DC’s office.

Speaking on the occasion, DCF (Social Forestry) D.M. Nagaraj Achar pointed out that one-third of land area should be forest which had dropped pretty low and now bettered to 23% which needs to be improved further. He said that giving good to environment would reflect  the quality of life.

DRDP Regional Director Srihari, District Director V. Vijaykumar Naganala, Project Officer K. Anand, College Principal K.V. Damodara Gowda and others were present during    the programme.
