Thousands take part in Koti Parayana Mahotsava

Mysuru: The chanting of ‘Sri Lakshminarasimha Sahsranama’ rented the air as thousands of women, dressed in yellow saree and red blouse took part in the Sri Lakshminarasimha Sahasranama Koti Parayana Mahotsava organised under the aegis of Sree Adishankaracharya Sharada Lakshmi Narasimha Peetam, Harisharapura at Maharaja College Grounds in the city this morning.

The event began with Srimajjagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Swayamprakasha Sachidananda Saraswathi Mahaswamiji arriving at the venue at about 9.45 am to a ‘pornakumbha swagatha’.

The Mahaswamiji made divine sankalpa that devotees obtain the blessings of the Lord by chanting ‘Sri Lakshminarasimha Sahasranama’, as an offering to the lord, while doing Koti Tulasi Archane to the Lord. Prior to the Sahasranama, city’s Vittala Seva Trust’s Guru Subbaraya Dasaru and troupe rendered bhajans.

Kum. Lavanya of Chennai rendered the invocation. Former Minister S.A. Ramdas, District Brahmin Association President D.T. Prakash, BJP leaders H.V. Rajeev and Yashaswi Somashekar, Hariharapura Sreemath Administrative Officer B.S. Ravishankar and others were present.

B.S. Ravishankar said that the reconstruction work of Sri Sharada Lakshminarasimha Temple at Hariharapura, Koppa taluk, Chikkamagaluru district, which began in 2009 is now nearing completion.

He further said that more than 50,000 women took part in a similar Parayana Mahotsava held at National College Grounds, Basavanagudi, Bengaluru on Oct. 28 in which Union Minister Ananthkumar took part.
