Three arrested for assaulting, robbing IT company employee

Rs. 42,000 cash, two-wheelers, three cell phones recovered

Mysore/Mysuru: Metagalli Police have arrested three persons, who had robbed an employee of a private IT company and have recovered Rs. 42,000 cash and one bike besides seizing one scooter and three mobile phones used for the crime from them.

The arrested are 23-year-old R. Praveen of Belavatha, 23-year-old N. Shivakumar of B.M. Sri Nagar and 25-year-old Raghu of V.P. Bore in Hunsur. Another youth involved in the crime is a juvenile and action is taken as per the law.

Details: On Jan. 29, the victim, who is working as a designer at a private IT company in city, had gone for dinner to a hotel near Sub-Urban Bus Stand. After having dinner, he came out and went to the park, opposite the bus stand to answer nature’s call where he spoke with a transgender for about 15 minutes and went home.

On Jan. 31, he (victim) noticed his gold chain missing and on Feb. 1 at about 12.30 am, came near Sub-Urban Bus Stand and began to question a few transgenders about his missing gold chain. Meanwhile, four unidentified youths, who approached him said that they knew the transgender who had taken his gold chain and asked him to come with them so that they could get                                                      his chain back.

Believing them, the victim went with them and as soon as they reached a deserted place at Belagola Industrial Area, the youths assaulted the victim with ceramic pieces and empty bottles and snatched his ATM cards. The youths then asked him to call his wife and tell her that he had met with an accident and transfer Rs. 50,000 to his (victim) account.

After the cash was transferred, the youths withdrew the cash from an ATM kiosk and threatened the victim of murdering him if he informs the Police. They then left the profusely bleeding victim at the deserted place and fled from the spot along with the victim’s bike.

The victim somehow managed to reach Metagalli Police Station and lodged a complaint. The Cops, who registered a case, began their investigation and found that cases of assault, rioting and threatening with life was already registered against accused Praveen and Shivakumar in Metagalli Police Station and also kidnapping of minor girls, sexual harassment and life threat cases at Hunsur Town Police Station.

Kantha, Ramesh, Suresh, Jeevan and Hanumanth Kalled, Metagalli ASI Ponnappa and staff Diwakar, Krishna, Prashanth Kumar, Asha, Shrishaila Huggi, Chethan and Chandrakanth Talawar, Technical Cell Inspector Lolakshi and staff Gurudev Aradhya, Kumar, Manju and Shyam in the nabbing and  seizing operation.
