Mysore/Mysuru: Curtains fell on the three-day Mysuru Fest-2024 last evening organised for the first time to promote Brand Mysuru and the products from the Mysuru region including the GI-tagged unique ones. The event provided a dynamic platform for both emerging and established artists to showcase their talents to a large audience.
The festival was organised by the District Administration and Tourism Department keeping in mind the holiday for Republic Day that also coincided with the weekend and as such, a large number of people visited the venues at Manasagangothri. The venues hosted events like Chitrasanthe, Food Festival, Flea Market and ‘Samskruthika Vaibhava’ cultural evenings, all of which received positive responses.
According to Tourism Department officials, in three days, over 30,000 people visited the Manassagangothri campus with their friends and families. The ‘Visit_Mysuru’ Instagram page of the Tourism Department garnered over 15 lakh viewers, reflecting the interest in the festival.
Last evening, the crowd was treated to a lively concert by Santhosh Venki, known for his extensive repertoire of over 3,000 songs and singer Aishwarya Rangarajan. The Open Air Theatre of Manasagangothri witnessed musical performances and cultural shows, including a captivating performance by a musical troupe from Georgia on the concluding day.
The singers from Georgia sang the National Anthem that was accorded loud cheers by the audience who had gathered there. Later, they belted out numbers from their native and also from Indian classical music.
Before the cultural events, officials from the Tourism Department thanked the people of Mysuru and tourists for their response to the Mysuru Fest. Deputy Commissioner Dr. K.V. Rajendra, Tourism Department Joint Director M.K. Savitha, Assistant Director T.K. Harish and others were present.
Humour fest debates who is great in family: Hubby or wife?
Sunday evening’s entertainment included a humour fest (Comedy Durbar) presented by orators Hiremagaluru Kannan, Prof. M. Krishnegowda, Mimicry Dayanand, Indumathi Salimat, Malleshgowda, Nagashri Thyagaraj, Y.V. Gundu Rao and others. The focus of the humour programme was ‘Who is great in a family – husband or wife?’
Asserting that the purpose of life cannot be solely defined by the pursuit of pleasure, courage is a quality exhibited by both men and women in challenging situations, the renowned orators humorously emphasised the strength of men during family crisis situations.
In a male-dominated society, they affirmed the man’s commitment to conducting himself with integrity. However, they also acknowledged that women, holding the primary position in handling difficult situations, deserve recognition.
They highlighted the significance of male sacrifice and patience, while also underscoring the ability of men to confront challenges. The message that was conveyed is clear — in a harmonious family, just like two eyes look the same and two feet walk the same, both partners play an equal role, fostering awareness that their contributions are equally valuable in creating a happy family.
